Now Playing: Sex with Robots!
12/01/2010
While Brooke Connolly’s critique of TrueCompanion.com’s marketing is apt – I read Violet Blue’s post about the launch of Roxxxy to corroborate the evidence – robot sex was hastily unplugged.
Pushing the usual mainstream crap marketing aside, I am not ready to flippantly knock on the perhaps slightly deviant sexual practices of robot fuckers. Does all fantasy about robots have to be turned into a palatable antidote for awkward loneliness? What about the curiosity of playing with something that could be programmed to give you the best orgasms and because they don’t have a nervous system wouldn’t even want a thank you rub and tug in return? Face it. If we stopped being so icky about sex with the robots, we could stop running into the it’s just a substitution for real imagination corner and come out swinging with our robot lovers and get a real surge to our fantasies.
For robot lovers and their aspiring allies:

That good ole time sci-fi just soothes the soul.
Read a book by Robert A. Henlein to experience square one of sexy starship computers and captain innuendo and banter.
Sexbot
A great article from H+ magazine anticipating the unequaled sex skills of sexbots. Enjoy the article for the ways robots will thwart our affections after we have the best sex of our lives : “Get a human if you want a relationship; I’m just a fucking machine.”
Shauna MacDonald played The Computer on the CBC Radio series Canadia 2056. The Computer develops a crush on the starship captain and is intensely jealous of a little wee robot that can move and is friends with aforementioned crush. A relationship (with an enjoyable story line) ensues. If I remember correctly the couple steals a crew member’s body for The Computer. Why do we make all the AI sentient? It seems unnecessary plus it’s what really causes the problems.
Jess Fink’s comic Chester 5000 about a woman in love with a robot.
Ok. I promise after this I will think about taking a break from robots or at least put the theory to the test.

Great site and I look forward to it filling up with more thoughtful comment. Just think what could be done if technology creators put as much thought into pleasure as they do into killing zombies and assorted enemies. Why is it that war games are main-street but anything to do with sex is back-alley? Many of us prefer the sound of an exploding orgasm than an exploding zombie head. So let’s have less guns and more butter (or any other suitable lubricant).
Keep up the good work ladies!

@J thanks for the clip! Trust Bjork to become a super sensual sexbot. The crotch shot in the jacuzzi was great.
Honestly, I think I would prefer my robot with a little less sentience than the romantic & sexual robots of interest in creative works. I don’t want to live through unreciprocated love with a machine, I just want them to press my buttons with a skill and panache and availability never accounted before.

[...] attendant les orgasmes cérébraux, personnellement j’aime mieux me rabattre sur les robots de sexe comme le propose [...]

Chris Cunningham et non Michel Gondry pour la vidéo de Bjork….
